In this collection of essays, some sections nicely explain various learning processes. However, the book lacks continuity and a clear flow of ideas and processes.
A large amount of the information presented is common knowledge--for example, universities are facilitators for learning. In fact, the information is too abstract. Chapter 6 talks about information and communication technologies associated with the process of learning in communities. This huge topic should have been explained more clearly, with a few good examples. As readers progress into later chapters of the book, the ride gets better. For example, chapters 12 to 17 discuss their respective topics in more detail. The last few chapters are the most successful, as the authors provide more elaborate explanations of the topics discussed.
To conclude, while the authors’ efforts are appreciated, the editor should have spent more time making this book more interesting.
