Vector splines are of great importance in both approximation andgraphical examination of, for example, three-dimensional flow problems. This paper describes an efficient method for the derivation andconstruction of such spline approximations.
The authors give both the underlying theory and apseudocode version of a suitable computationalprocedure. Sample applications of the new method illuminate the areas ofappropriate use and show the savings that can be expected from thismethod compared to the use of regular polynomial approximation methods. The authors also provide a good set of references to therecent literature.
