Generating NURBS curves by envelopes
Wang G. Computing48 (3-4):275-289,1992.Type:Article
Date Reviewed: Jul 1 1993

Wang shows that nonuniform rational B-splines (NURBS) are the envelope of a family of NURBS curves of lower order. Thus NURBS curves can, in principle, be generated recursively and defined in a geometric fashion. Uniqueness is proven. While the envelope characterization is interesting, and certainly geometric, it does not lead to a useful geometric algorithm for actually generating NURBS curves.
