[Ed. Note: The following is a rebuttal to a review previously published in CR.]
The aim of this paper is not to provide a detailed explanation of either the model driven architecture (MDA) or data warehouses, but to cover an initial effort of joining these two research fields. Furthermore, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first work involving MDA in the design of data warehouses.
As Hankley correctly points out in his review, the paper introduces relevant related work on these two topics, in order to provide the reader with significant references covering them, while at the same time making the paper as concise as possible. Due to space constraints, we were not able to provide an in-depth description of the query/view/transformation (QVT) transformations we have developed. Instead, we presented four of them as a significant summary, and briefly commented on the corresponding diagrams. Regarding the acronyms, we agree that we had to use them frequently, but this was again due to space constraints. However, they were all correctly introduced in advance, and readers involved in this research area are familiar with them. Finally, we would like to point out that one of the strengths of this paper is that it is the first work that takes advantage of the formal QVT transformations to specify model transformations for data warehouse design.
