Evolution of the high performance database
, Prentice-Hall, Inc., Upper Saddle River, NJ, 1996. Type: Book (9780135947302)
Date Reviewed: Feb 1 1998

This book contains a collection of articles from Informix Software’s customer support journal Informix Tech Notes. The book is aimed at “readers who are interested in acquiring an in-depth knowledge of the Information Technology (IT) market.” Authors prominently featured in the preface of and advertising about this book are Marc Andreessen, Michael Stonebraker, and W. H. Inmon. Each of them has contributed one article. Most of the articles in the book are short and well written, and address some aspect of using Informix’s products. The most technical articles require an understanding of C code.

Do you develop Informix-based software? Are you developing Web pages, GUIs, data warehouses, or high-performance databases using some of Informix’s software? Do you want a hardbound book of selected articles from Informix Technical Notes? If you answered yes to these questions, get the book. The rest of us can skip it without missing anything significant.
