Multivariate data representation and analysis by face pattern using facial expression characteristics
Honda N., Sugimoto F. Pattern Recognition19 (1):85-94,1986.Type:Article
Date Reviewed: Jun 1 1988

The paper describes a method for representing multidimensional data by mapping onto a representation of a human face. Various data groups are associated with specific facial expressions based on various compositions of facial features. The goal is to facilitate human interpretation of complicated multidimensional data. Unfortunately, the mappings are too subjective to be of much general use, and other representation schemes (color coding or textual displays with detailed explanations of the data) are more suitable. It does not seem possible to provide any sound framework for such techniques.
