I-Room: augmenting virtual worlds with intelligent systems
Tate A. IEEE Internet Computing15 (5):56-61,2011.Type:Article
Date Reviewed: Dec 6 2011

The I-Room system is an augmented virtual world in which individuals can participate in events, workshops, discussions, training sessions, reviews, social occasions, and so on via a simple and intuitive Web interface. One of the key characteristics of this technology is that it offers intelligent interaction in a virtual space, making it easy for users to participate.

I-Room is described from a high architectural level, focusing on the benefits of the technology as an effective alternative to real-life meetings, phone calls, or even videoconferences. Indeed, the screen shot of the system captures external meaningful information based on the conceptual model I-N-C-A. Multiple benefits resulting from linking real-world systems to the I-Room system are listed, including its capability to record a conversation, track actions, provide access to useful resources, and document outcomes and progress.

To conclude, the I-Room concept has the potential to improve the way people collaborate and interact, especially for workers who are geographically distributed.
