Three systems that generate presentations containing orchestrationsof multiple media are described. COMET provides explanations forequipment maintenance and repair. MAGIC provides briefings on patientstatus immediately following coronary bypass surgery. CDNS helps peoplegather information from news sources on current events. Each of thesesystems appears to address significant challenges in the management ofinformation and the coordination of media, primarily text and images, but also animation and sound. A paper that covered these systemsadequately; discussed techniques common to all three projects, as wellas attributes of the defining tasks that required the implementations todiffer; and set this work in the context of other work inthe area would be very important. This paper falls short of those goals. The individual descriptions are confusing and incomplete. The discussionof common techniques and significant, intrinsic differences is weak. Thepaper does have value as a quick introduction to the three projects, andthe bibliography contains citations to other work by the authors.
