SEES--a software testing environment support system
Roussopoulos N., Yeh R. (ed) IEEE Transactions on Software EngineeringSE-11 (4):355-366,1985.Type:Article
Date Reviewed: Apr 1 1986

SEES is described in this paper as a database toolset for gathering and viewing static information on a program under test. This approach to testing allows programmers a uniform, centralized database of program information. It also allows views of the program from various levels of detail, thus speeding the software development process.

Although the centralized database approach provides an important step in coordinating test and program information, this paper only describes one method of gathering data, which is on the program structure from the compiler. Dynamic test data gathering is not discussed, nor is the integration of other test tools into the database. Without either of these facilities, the test environment is incomplete.

Overall, this paper is well worth reading by those who are interested in softwa- re testing. It describes an approach that can be expanded to coordinate and easily view test information.
