The Modern Language Association
Shaw D., Davis C. Journal of the American Society for Information Science47 (12):932-940,1996.Type:Article
Date Reviewed: Dec 1 1997

Members of the Modern Language Association of America (MLA) were surveyed about their use of computer-based research tools (including email, online library catalogs, and electronic texts). The results of the survey are presented in excessive detail, including several unnecessary quotations from the responses (such as “Online catalogs have allowed me to spend less time in the library--I can send my RA for what I need”). An appendix provides the survey questions, which are already clear from the tables provided in the body of the paper. The paper is easy to read (you can skip the text and just browse the tables) but not interesting.
