VAX FORTRAN to FORTRAN 77 translator
Hessel R., Chico S. Advances in Engineering Software7 (3):142-156,1985.Type:Article
Date Reviewed: Jun 1 1987

This paper describes a preprocessor that translates VAX FORTRAN programs into “standard” FORTRAN 77. The preprocessor is written in two versions of Pascal: one that employs tools from [1], and another referred to as “standard” (authors’ quotes) Pascal. It is not clear what is meant by “standard” Pascal, but a complete listing of the translator appears in the paper. It is also unclear whether or not a machine-readable version of the translator is available.

The paper gives a brief description of specific mappings produced by the translator, how it works, and how it should be used. The paper should be of interest primarily to those considering transporting their VAX FORTRAN programs to another environment.
