A supervised learning algorithm for hierarchical classification of fuzzy patterns
Biswas P., Majumdar A. Information Sciences31 (2):91-106,1983.Type:Article
Date Reviewed: Feb 1 1985

The notion of fuzzy separability is introduced and clarified. A simple learning rule is described. This is an interesting and useful discussion. Several progam segments which clarify the ideas are given. The rule has been successfully used to classify handprinted Devanagari script (for Hindi, the official language of India). The authors introduce novel ideas to generate binary classification trees which are interesting and should prove useful. Students of fuzzy set theory should be aware of this paper.
