| Jim Van Speybroeck is a professor of decision sciences at St. Ambrose University (Davenport, IA) where he has taught and done research for 29 years. He received his undergraduate degree in mathematics from St. Ambrose College (now, university) and his master’s degree from Western Illinois University. He received his PhD from Illinois State University, where he did research on post-tenure review of the professoriate. His research interests are primarily focused on regression analysis and the appropriate use of technology for higher education in mathematics, statistics, and econometrics. His teaching specialties are econometrics and statistics. He has written four books on computer science and mathematics. He has written hundreds of articles on computer technology for several journals, including ComputerWorld, ISO World, and Data Processing Digest. He considers his work with ACM Computing Reviews to be a highlight of his professional life.
