Eugene Zhang is an assistant professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University. He was also a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER award in 2006.

Eugene’s research areas include computer graphics, scientific visualization, and geometric modeling. In particular, he has worked in the areas of mesh simplification and parameterization, geometry remeshing, and nonphotorealistic rendering. Recently, he has become more interested in the concepts of tensors and symmetry and how they interface with shapes. This has led to a number of publications in the areas of vector and tensor field design, as well as rotational symmetry field analysis.

Eugene received his PhD degree in computer science in 2004 from Georgia Institute of Technology. In 1994, he obtained an MS degree in mathematics from Ohio State University. More information about Eugene and his work can be found at http://web.engr.orst.edu/~zhange
