Collaboration is ubiquitous in companies that connect employees from various departments and teams. The distributed nature of collaborative working environments (CWEs) allows for the establishment of new rules for privacy protection. This paper describes an intelligent system that monitors what users are doing (new changes, interactions, and context) and then modifies privacy policies accordingly.

One of the system’s strengths is that it arranges the context so that it corresponds to the appropriate owner-defined sharing policy, thus preserving user privacy. Moreover, it takes into account two sharing policies: enterprise defined and user defined.

Due to the automatization and flexibility of the process, users only have to interfere when needed. In the considered scenario, the authors describe changes in context and how they impact various privacy policies. Further on, the paper describes how intelligent adaptation is assured, conflict is resolved, and sharing policies are adapted. The way context is constrained determines a user’s information sharing in multiple environments and among collaborative partners.
