Pollitt has provided a great service for those who are interested in knowing about forensic standards for digital evidence. This paper reports clearly and accurately on the efforts made in the last 10 years by practitioners and computer investigative specialists to provide a foundation for retrieving and authenticating electronic data for use in criminal investigations and prosecutions.

The paper presents, in a compact form and without any rhetoric, the path followed by the pioneers of the discipline in defining standards and guidelines for the use of electronic evidence in criminal investigations. I very much appreciated this brief history, and the references provided by the author.
