An important issue related to photo tagging is addressed in this paper. The authors propose using a narrative method to tag photos, by providing users with the possibility of telling a story about their photos.

The first section introduces the need for tagging photos, explaining why narrative-based tagging is a good choice. Even if readers remain unconvinced by the authors’ presentation, this section is nicely written and accessible to nonexperts. In the second section, the authors present the results of some experimental interviews conducted to analyze the story elements usually used by people when tagging photos. The third section focuses on the prototype interface implemented by the authors. It explains how to tag photos using StoryTags.

Overall, the paper is well written. However, this method is immature and requires substantial tests and analysis. Personally, I am not completely convinced that narrating is better than simple tagging.
