Several ways to train computer users outside of a classroom setting are examined. The paper mentions a case involving the training of 10,000 users to migrate from a character-based personal computer system to a graphical (GUI) system, but it only provides results from an apparently smaller usability evaluation involving several training methods. Even in regard to these results, no details are presented regarding the methodology used for testing usability. The paper seems to wander, without helping the reader to understand where stated claims come from. References are sparse, and missing altogether when important claims are made. At best, this paper could serve to interest a trainer in alternative ways to train large numbers of users. Unfortunately, it does not give the reader justifiable reasons to select from among these.
