Dynamic spectrum allocation with maximum efficiency and fairness in interactive cognitive radio networks
Ma Z., Wang H. Wireless Personal Communications: An International Journal64 (2):439-455,2020.Type:Article
Date Reviewed: Aug 27 2021

Cognitive radio is a promising technology to leverage the radio spectrum in a more effective way. The nature of the interactivities in cognitive radio network entities is of a manner that can be modeled by game theory ideas. In this regard, the authors adopt cooperative differential game methods to model competitions and collaborations for interactive cognitive radio network (ICRN) overlay spectrum access.

After an introductory discussion and related literature review, a general discussion about ICRN architecture is provided. With an emphasis on dynamic spectrum allocation, the authors provide a general description of cooperative differential games, including some definitions about using the differential game lemmas. The discussion proceeds with confusing material about a dynamic spectrum allocation model based on a cooperative differential game.

The paper has chosen a good technology for a discussion about cognitive radio networks. But the level of reasoning and scientific discussion is severely lacking. The details of a cooperative differential game are not obvious, nor why it is applicable and useful in ICRNs. The paper is full of general remarks. In some parts of the paper, mistakes related to copy and paste haven’t been corrected, for example, “the problem (1–2)” and “the game (7–8).”
