| Dr. Nancy Eickelmann’s career spans over four decades of computing technology in industry research and development (R&D) laboratories, the federal government, and academia, successfully taking on greater responsibilities and remaining current in applied technologies. She has worked in internationally preeminent research labs, including the Hughes Research Laboratory (HRL) as a member of the technical staff, NASA’s Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Facility as a senior research associate, and the Motorola Systems and Software Engineering Research Lab (SSERL) as a distinguished member of the technical staff.
Nancy’s federal service in a senior leadership position focused on federal acquisition for the program and project management of information technology (IT) systems. Specific programs required the transitioning from legacy mainframe systems to either on-premise or cloud-based technologies. Challenges of note include multi-tenant architectures, data integrity, financial models for cloud-based shared services, the appropriate application of agile methods, and managing security in evolving DevOps environments.
She concurrently taught at the postgraduate level and developed courses on software metrics, systems and software test technologies, software architecture documentation and analysis, and business statistics. Her credentials include: MBA in information and decision sciences, and PhD/MS in information and computer science; Motorola Black Belt and Master Black Belt; Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers (FAC-PPM) Senior Level III; Federal Acquisition Certification for Contracting Officer’s Representatives (FAC-COR) Senior Level III; and National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) certified federal records officer.
Nancy holds multiple honors and awards, including the prestigious Hughes Doctoral Fellow, California Doctoral Scholar, and membership in Beta Gamma Sigma (the business honor society). Her professional volunteerism includes multiple years as coeditor of IEEE Software’s “Quality Time” column, ABET Commissioner, and program evaluator of information and computer science programs.
She has been a reviewer for Computing Reviews since 2010. |
