Will Wallace is currently the Vice President for Information Technology of RESPECT International, a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Based on his work with RESPECT, he was selected as a United Nations Online Volunteer of the Year for 2004, one of only ten worldwide.

As Webmaster for RESPECT, he manages a Web site (http://www.respectrefugees.org) with pages in a dozen languages. He has reformatted the site to be more standards compliant and more accessible to visitors using assistive technology. Other duties include database administrator and developer, and email administrator. He is also the Senior Editor for the RESPECT e-zine, an electronic newsletter published in French and English, and distributed worldwide.

Will has spent most of the last five years supporting non-profit organizations' information technology (IT) needs. The majority of his work has been in Web development, but also includes project management, and database development and maintenance. In addition, he has experience writing and editing technical material, and doing desktop publishing.

Will's varied experience has allowed him to effectively teach in many environments: corporate, academic, and one-on-one. He has taught classes as basic as how to use a computer and as complex as SQL programming. He was a presenter on the subject of teaching adult learners at one of the annual Infotec information and educational conferences for computing professionals.

He has spent more than 20 years in information technology working with hardware ranging from PCs to mainframes, and a variety of operating systems including MS-DOS versions 3.2 to 6.0, all flavors of Windows, OS/2, AIX, Linux, Mac OS, CMS, MVS, and VMS. Twelve years of this time was spent working for the United States government, specializing in all aspects of software development, as well as user issues and testing.

Will received his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Montana in 1985.
