Melissa has worked for Internet companies like Internosis, Judd’s Online, and AppNet. She also has computing experience in manufacturing, medical, and non-profit environments. Melissa has practical experience in the areas of user training, installation, maintenance, programming, system analysis, project management, databases, and networking. Melissa is currently working as an adjunct professor in Lord Fairfax Community College’s Information Systems Technology curriculum and is the Blackboard system administrator for Shenandoah University.
Melissa has an Associate of Applied Science Degree (1988) in Data Processing, from Chattahoochee Valley Community College. Melissa also holds a Bachelor of Science (1994) in Computer Information Systems from Shenandoah University and a Master’s of Business Administration (1997) from Averett University. Currently, she is an ABD in Nova Southeastern University’s Computer Information Systems program and holds a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences from Walden University.
Melissa’s main research interests are in information and computer security, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, and computing for the disabled. Melissa has been a published reviewer with the ACM since June 2001. Melissa was an Associate Editor for ACM CrossRoads in 2003 and a reviewer for the IEEE and Educause. She holds several Blackboard and Microsoft certifications. Melissa is a member of the National Association of Female Executives, ACM, IEEE, Women in Engineering, and Community of Science.
