This interesting book describes getting started with Azure. It includes a substantial tutorial that goes through all the basic steps to create an Azure account. Step-by-step details for creating a first Azure function follow. The book then covers programming with the Azure application programming interface (API) for serverless computing. However, conceptual background is not included alongside the relevant technical information, which compromises the book’s effectiveness. This makes understanding hard for beginners to this technical field.

I would take this book as a good guide and tutorial for beginners to Azure and serverless computing. It is also appropriate for technical, tutorial sessions at the college level.

The book is well structured. However, since the figures are in black and white, it is very hard to differentiate the details in the screen shots; the figures are either too white to see or too black to differentiate details. In addition, the font does not seem appropriate for a professional book, and the font size used in the screen shots is too tiny to read.
