Almost everyone knows that IoT stands for the Internet of Things. The term has been around since 1999, the concept earlier. However, implementing IoT systems was hard to come by--you may have heard such puns as “I only talk” or “I only think.” People waited and waited for the magic IoT systems to materialize.

But this is no longer the case. IoT has become more and more common for a few reasons:

  • IoT hardware is now cheap and easy to manufacture.
  • Networks are omnipotent and everywhere, and it is easy to connect to IoT devices.
  • Cloud services are cheaper and easier to use.
  • Software development techniques have advanced, making IoT applications easier to develop.

This timely publication illuminates the solid steps for implementing IoT systems. It explains how to create IoT services and IoT organizations. It discusses IoT assets, IoT ecosystems, IoT enablers, and IoT industries. It also highlights the IoT business model and the future of IoT.

But we all know the complexities of IoT systems. A single book cannot explain all the details. That is, this is generally a concept introduction book. As a result, it has three appendices, including an IoT service description, service-level agreement (SLA), and operational framework. One minor comment: the figures are in black and white; therefore, the resolution and readability may not be easy on the eyes. After reading this book you may know a lot about IoT; however, in order to implement it, many more details are needed.
