This article describes various surveys for determining the role of analytics in different types of managerial works. It specifically surveys managerial works in finance, human resources, marketing, and operations. The works are divided into planning, implementing, and controlling. The analytics applications are classified into static reports/interactive dashboards, descriptive analytics, predictive analytics, prescriptive analytics, and big data analytics. The main purpose is to find both current usage as well as possible future usage.

The survey methodology consists of identifying managerial tasks in various functions, collecting usage data from survey respondents, and organizing the data into tables. The survey respondents are from large, medium, and small organizations. Apart from providing the survey findings, the article also gives brief overviews of analytics applications, a descriptive conclusion of the survey, and references.

Readers should have a general interest in analytics and management.
