The application research of digital technology in the education for major of machinery in new engineering background

From the outset, the title of the paper presents a problem to the reader. The same goes for much of its grammar throughout. For this paper to be useful and readable to a wider audience, the authors will need to undertake some major revisions. Regardless, it is clear that the authors believe that digital technology is not being utilized to teach content in the field. The low degree of digitalization in methodology only allows students to use training equipment and engage in practical activities in a linear nondigital manner. They therefore suggest a model that introduces and incorporates digital technology into every facet of the teaching process. It should be introduced into the teaching of content as early as possible, and they provide as an example the use of 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Another shortcoming with how mechanical engineering students are currently being taught has to do with the low level of digital technology used in training equipment. But more importantly, because there is very little integration among the various courses--from the introductory course to the final practical experimentation that students are supposed to be exposed to--students are deprived of fully understanding the design and manufacturing linkages. Since the discipline is supposed to be a practical and applied subject matter, it should pay greater attention to the combination of theory and practice.

The authors try to follow through with their not-so-innovative ideas: 1) digital technology should be introduced into the teaching of content; 2) student creativity can be enhanced by providing hands-on training through a digital training environment; and 3) via practical projects and competitions, the innovative use of digital technology can be cultivated. In fact, the authors name a few of the most influential mechanical product innovative design competitions and suggest incorporating such competitions into final projects. Likewise, internships and practical training activities can be very helpful in linking theory with practice for students in mechanical engineering programs.
