This book is a well-thought-out study designed to break through the silo procedure of business model innovation (BMI). Too often in business, industry, government, and education there is absolutely no attempt to work together to profit from research in business evolution. Indeed, the norm--keeping any research findings secret from any other department in the organization--is exactly the opposite!

In this approach, the authors study a systematic compilation of literature reviews to research different perspectives of BMI, with the goal of forming a unified compendium of similar findings.

Chapter 1 sets down the ground rules of their procedure: the authors introduce the methodology used in the text to analyze, from an ontological discussion, the various definitions and theories of BMI.

Chapter 2 is the elaboration of, and an implementation of, the methods defined in chapter 1, to give the reader a unified view of the many different views of what a BMI should be.

In chapter 3, the authors are ready to develop a holistic view of BMI. This chapter is really the crux of the book since it is here that the authors integrate the seemingly divergent studies into an integrated whole to develop a coherent theme of effective BMI.

Chapters 4 and 5 present readers with seldom seen descriptions of BMI from the perspectives of the individual, the team, the firm, the network, and the institution.

The final chapter echoes the pattern of many texts of this genre, that is, implications for further research.

A cursory glance at the authorship of this text will lead the reader to suspect a parochial view of the material, but once the reader seriously studies the content, s/he will see that the material will be of interest and value to any business professional.
