Most Internet of Things (IoT) platform topics are covered in this book, including platform design, simulation, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in IoT, data management in IoT, and IoT use cases. It addresses the latest enabling technologies in IoT and will give readers a good grounding as to where this rapidly evolving field is headed. It describes IoT information in great depth and provides insight into the world of IoT. I particularly like Part 5, “Use Cases for IoT,” which tries to present the applications with real scenarios. However, it is also worth noting that this book does not address the architecture of IoT or its main components, but focuses on the details of components and services.

The authors raise a few questions about the functionality of a fully connected cyber-physical world; the main goal of the book is to address such questions and their implications. Most of these questions are addressed in various chapters of the book with some element of contextualization.

Setting standards for IoT is a big issue. The book does not really address this explicitly, but indirectly discusses some requirements under different IoT subtopics, including assisted living, healthcare, and so on. Possibly, via the use of such case studies, different sectors and pathways to establishing a standard can be realized.

This is mainly a collection of research papers, thus the main target audience will be early career researchers within IoT, some consultants within the industry, undergraduate and postgraduate students in IoT areas, and individuals interested in learning the basics and gaining an overview of IoT concepts.
