This paper covers a considerable volume of research work in the area of sentiment analysis. The authors define sentiment analysis as the computational classification of the context of a user’s feelings within a passage of text, primarily text that a user has posted in regard to an event or situation, like blogs and social media forums. The classification of sentiment analysis forms a hierarchy of several levels; this paper examines one specific sub-level known as explicit aspects. The examination and collation of research in this area is very comprehensive with a number of tables that clearly illustrate the most recent research.

The authors provide a full discussion in the analysis and discussion section, which explains the different reasons for the selection of datasets and approaches. This paper is not suitable for the layperson, as the topics discussed require some basic understanding of sentiment analysis. The authors conclude that while they summarized and categorized more than 60 research approaches, this topic has more gaps that could be examined in the future. I would recommend this paper to academics and interested individuals who are familiar with the topic of sentiment analysis.
