The future use of innovative computing technologies to provide ubiquitous healthcare will radically change the delivery and consumption of healthcare services. This paper proposes a model of mobile agents that can be integrated with medical entities into an efficient, user-friendly collaborative environment to support ubiquitous healthcare. The so-called convergence model provides a design process and visual modeling language for integrating the crosscutting concerns of functional behaviors and aspects into an architectural platform for full system implementation.

This paper will have value for software architects and designers who face the challenge of integrating the latest computing technologies, such as mobile devices, into existing healthcare systems. Numerous diagrams of architectures and unified modeling language (UML) models are provided to illustrate the convergent designs in a case study of a healthcare system incorporating mobile sensor devices.
