Security concerns are often mentioned as a major challenge for the wider adoption of cloud computing, especially among established enterprises.

Users have to understand not only their own business risks and current information technology environments, but also what cloud computing is and how the security picture changes depending on the cloud solution chosen. If the trust boundaries were vague before, they are even more so now, when trying to define the border between the cloud vendor and cloud user.

The authors successfully manage to provide a very helpful overview of the topic, starting with defining cloud computing in a pedagogical and structured way and then adding security topics layer by layer. As the overall picture becomes clearer, the challenges become increasingly evident, but not always in the ways one would expect.

The book is intended for those on the business side, as well as those from the practical technical side. Both groups will gain thorough knowledge on security and privacy, cloud computing, and how these fit together. The book is full of real-life examples and references, many of which are somewhat outdated due to the fast pace of the field. Nevertheless, the book will help readers understand cloud security concepts and ideas, as well as expectations for the future.
