The adoption of Internet-based business transaction models has significantly influenced the development of better integration solutions, which put together different data management systems (like databases, content management systems, and enterprise application systems), and transform data from one format to another.

In this article, the authors propose an approach that can automatically match entities from various data sources by utilizing a state-of-the-art record linkage system in conjunction with a data integration system. They built a record linkage system, Apollo, that utilizes information from secondary sources.

The article provides many good examples to illustrate the importance of having a record linkage system like Apollo. The article also provides a very good and clear description of the Apollo system. It shows that available secondary sources may be entirely appropriate and wholly adequate for drawing conclusions and solving problems. Even though the claim is not always true, it could definitely yield more accurate data than that obtained through primary sources alone.

Overall, the authors do a very good job of introducing and describing the importance of the problem domain, but the article did not address any issues related to user involvement. It would be interesting to see whether user involvement would be minimized or maximized in the proposed system.
