Game programmers will find this book a useful guide to tools, but it can also be of use to other people. The book is divided into two parts, covering tools and major online sites. The first part describes libraries and utilities for programming languages running under DOS. Chapters contain brief descriptions of libraries and tools (including graphics and sound tools). The detailed function descriptions needed by programmers are not provided. The second part refers to particular World Wide Web sites. It includes browser screen images. These pages are not systematically organized, which makes them less useful. The screen copies are too big and contain little information; they resemble advertisements. I could not figure out how the material in this part is organized.

While the first part of the book is useful to programmers, it is, unfortunately, mainly oriented to DOS, although other platforms are mentioned in the introduction. The author concentrates on utilities saved on one particular server.
