The art of scrum : how scrum masters bind dev teams and unleash agility
McKenna D., Apress, New York, NY, 2016. 218 pp. Type: Book (978-1-484222-76-8)
Date Reviewed: May 24 2017

Scrum is a widely used approach for the agile development of software systems. A scrum master plays a key role by coaching, facilitating, and orchestrating the ceremonies and artifacts of the scrum team. The role is distinct from the traditional duties of software project managers and development leads, and this practitioner-oriented book does an admirable job of describing the duties and spirit of the scrum master.

The author presents his experiences and insights on being a scrum master in a conversational manner, peppered with anecdotes and asides. Reading this short book is like sharing ideas with an experienced colleague over a preferred beverage. If you aspire to be a scrum master or want to have a better understanding of the role, it is worth a read.
