Gulustan Dogan is an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). She is also the founder of UNCW’s Applied AI Research Lab.

Gulustan received her PhD in computer science from the City University of New York (CUNY) and her bachelor’s in computer engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey. Previously, she was an associate professor at Yildiz Technical University, Turkey. She also worked in Silicon Valley as a software engineer at both NetApp and Intel.

Gulustan is one of the founding members of Turkish Women in Computing (TWIC), a Systers community affiliated with AnitaB.org. She also serves as a Women in Data Science (WiDS) Ambassador. As an advisory committee member and as a technical committee member, she has been involved in the organization of national and international academic events related to her research interests. At academic conferences, she handles the review of submitted manuscripts related to artificial intelligence, trust, wireless sensor networks, data science, provenance, learning analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

As a committed advocate for women and underrepresented minorities, Gulustan is actively involved with organizations that support women in the sciences. She has been a reviewer for Computing Reviews since 2013.
